Market Lavington Neighbourhood Plan

Your Village, Your Voice, Your Future

Useful Information

The Localism Act 2011 made sweeping reforms to Planning legislation and regulations, creating the National Planning Policy Framework NPPF (which you can access here) and enabling local communities to engage in Neighbourhood Planning.

Where a Parish Council exists, it acts as the lead body for Neighbourhood Planning, forming a Steering Group of both Councillors and volunteers from across the parish area to undertake the research and consultation as necessary. The Steering Group undertakes to involve and engage with as wide a cross-section of residents and businesses as possible in formulating the Plan (you can find out more about Neighbourhood Planning from Wiltshire Council’s Portal here).

The Neighbourhood Plan must be in line with policies set out in the NPPF and the Wiltshire Core Strategy (which you can access here), and once adopted, becomes a legally binding document which planning decisions are obliged to recognise.

In 2006 a Parish Plan was produced which is also relevant (which you can access here). Since then progress has been made with many of the recommendations in the plan (which you can access here), however it is recognised that some of the priorities and future needs of the Village may have changed since then, and the Neighbourhood Plan will be able to address these.
